Basic Fairy cakes

Serves: 12

Recipe Ingredients
100g self-raising flour;
1 tsp baking powder;
100g butter;
100g caster sugar;
2 large eggs, lightly beaten;
1 tbsp milk (optional)

makes 12 fairy cakes
 
Recipe Method
Put paper cases in a 12-cup bun tin.

Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl. Add the butter, eggs and sugar. Beat together until well mixed. If the mixture is a little thick, mix in a little milk.

Evenly divide the mixture between the cake cases. Bake for 20 minutes in a preheated oven (180c/gas4) until just firm.

Allow to cool slightly before putting them out on a wire rack to cool completely.

Ice and decorate the cakes as you like.
