1 onion, finely chopped; 1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed; 50g butter; 600ml milk; 2 bay leaves; 200g white breadcrumbs; salt and pepper; pinch ground cloves. |

Melt the butter and gently cook the onion and garlic until soft. Add the milk and bay leaves. Bring to the simmer then remove from the heat. Once cooled, remove the bay leaves. Add the breadcrumbs, seasoning and cloves. Mix together and leave for at least 1 hour to infuse. Reheat to serve. |
