Mulled wine

Serves: 6

Recipe Ingredients
1 bottle red wine;
50g granulated sugar;
4 cloves;
1 small orange;
1 small cinnamon stick;
1 small lemon, halved lengthways and sliced.
 
Recipe Method
Put the wine and sugar into a saucepan, and gently heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

Stick the cloves into one end of the orange and cut off that end. Halve and slice the rest of the orange. Add all the orange slices to the pan, including the clove studded one, along with the cinnamon and lemon.

Gently heat the wine until almost simmering, then sit on a very low heat for 15 minutes to keep warm (do not allow the wine to simmer or boil). Strain wine, if desired and serve hot.
